Here are the kids at the start
of the school year, late August, 2004. Noah was starting first grade and Em fourth. I can't believe how fast the year went (I also can't believe that my cosmos didn't survive the winter-I need to replace them this week!!)
And here they are on the last day!!
Oh and no surprise, but I was all misty-eyed when Em graduated from her elementary school!
OK! Enough of the bittersweet, "memories" portion of this post. On to the knitting portion..I've just about finished the first half of my tank from Sally Melvilles, Knit Stitch. I've mentioned that I'm knitting it in Flash, the close up follows. I like the loose ribby look it has. As I mentioned the other day I had a brief tiff with it and needed to rip out a few inches, when I did so I measured it and it was about 22-23 inches, which means it will be about 64-66 inches , which will be great because my intent is to wear it over a plain white tank or cami. My neighbor, Judy, is making the same tank, on the same needles, with the same yarn (in a lovely coral shade) and just one size smaller, but hers looks much different. I tend to knit loose and she tends to knit tight. It always amazes me how you can have a group of people knit the same sweater form the same fiber and it will be different on each person. My goal is to wear this by the end of July, and so far I think I'm on target. Assuming I wind some more of it into balls tonight....
I've also started on my (potential) sock for sockapal-2-zer . I say potential because it's Alisons anklet sock pattern for Koigu and if I mess it up I won't be subjecting my poor recipient to it, I have a number of back up patterns that showcase Koigu nicely. But for what it's worth, here's the start...
Fingers crossed that those anklets work out! Love the colors of that Koigu. And bless those kiddies of yours for making their mommy proud. :)
